Last weekend I saw a journal. It was red velvet, gold edged pages with stars and a tassel. Like something out of the original ‘Sabrina the Teenage Witch’ series or one Stevie Nicks might walk around with backstage. I audibly gasped and was like “you’re coming home with me.”
Anyway, the notebook of my dreams is being used as a daily gratitude tool. Firstly because I love gratitude journalling. Secondly it’s actually a useful mindfulness tool, well for me at least.
It’s also a new daily routine for myself and I am in dire need of routine at this time…
Reading: The Palace Papers x Tina Brown. I love Royal family gossip and insight. This book combines them both in a way which is engaging but never dry. There’s nothing worse, for me at least, than a nonfiction book that feels like I should be writing an essay on it. If you like The Crown, you will enjoy this. Which leads us nicely into…
Watching: The Crown S6, Netflix. I’ll be honest, for me, S5 of The Crown was forgettable. All I remember is that Diana interview which they really glossed over anyway. So thank god S6 came back and bought the much-needed energy it was lacking. Part one follows the last few months of Princess Diana’s life. Peter Morgan really paid tribute to her legacy in a respectful yet poetic way. Also, Elizabeth Debicki sounds and looks so much like Princess Diana it’s insanely brilliant. The last six episodes drop mid-December and it will be interesting to see what it focuses on because there’s a lot of material to cover in very few episodes.
Listening: Nothing new to be honest. I’m being predictable, listening to the same few Spotify playlists. Some Coldplay, The Beatles, Taylor Swift, Fleetwood Mac, etc etc.
Liking: This video. I love Olivia Colman. Actual UK treasure. This video is just so wholesome and brilliant. Anyway, now I want an English roast please and thanks, with a side of sticky toffee pudding.
-I hope you are all staying safe and well. See you in two weeks for the last Substack of the year.
